I was asked by the amazing people at Hasselblad if I would like to be a featured shooter for an event called Shoot-NYC. Shoot-NYC is an industry event that brings image makers from all over the world to one place where they can learn about the latest gear, take seminars and lectures pertaining to the photography business and see live fashion shoots... all for free! At my part of the event, I put on a live fashion shoot, where I demonstrated different lighting techniques using Broncolor's amazing Lighting.
For this event, I reached out to a model that just arrived from Paris that has been wanting to shoot with me, Robyn. She is now signed with Red Models in NYC. I brought on Oscar Montes, a new york fashion stylist who brought me gowns from the CD Greene collection. For these shots here, I placed one broncolor light off to either side of the model, casting a front shadow that I liked. I tend to go for images with a bit of edgy. Broncolor has such great lights! The camera I shot Robyn with was the Hasselblad H4D, 40 megapixel camera.
My idea for the shoot was to create a moody side lighting…. and to have the clothing very colorful. Although in the end, I turned some of the images black and white as I loved the reflective dress casting a silvery tone.
